This is my blog, and it is dangerous. Do you think I want to die like this?

2%

Only 2% of Photobucket's users are experiencing the ongoing issue from their "brief maintenance", and I got to be one of the lucky ones.  They are assuring people their pictures are safe and I, for one, do not trust them.  I have no idea when, or if my pictures will come back.  I did my final photo editing on Photobucket, so those were my only copies.  Reconstructing nineteen Sims updates would be a nearly impossible task, so I'm praying they fix it.

Don't worry your pretty little head. They'll have it sorted. This has happened to me before. You should relax, would you like to have a puff with me while you wait?

I certainly need one.

Ah... this reminds me of a time in the not so distant past when I had spent weeks painstakingly editing a movie with a finicky editor that, immediately after I added the last frame, decided to delete my whole 1 hour and ten minute long project. Surprisingly, I got it remade in about a week without completely losing my mind.
I guess the lesson here, besides what a patient and dedicated person I am, is that the technological world is out to get us and our only option is to hold on to our hats and learn from our mistakes so that next time. There's a reason why we have brains and computers do not. At least... not yet.

6 months of stories. If they don't give me back my pictures, I'm digging a hole and crawling in. I've been shitting my pants for two days, just waiting to find out IF they still exist.

I'm praying that I look like a crazy lady who was ranting about nothing very soon.

You'll learned a lesson sweetie.

Always have a back up copy. It's the number one rule of working with files on a computer.

Uugh! So much work! I do hope they figure it out!

Madeline Hammersmark said...

Seriously though, have they explained what they are doing?

Darryl said...

Told ya so.

I will gladly receive the "told ya so", but I choose to ignore the "you'll learned a lesson, sweetie", since even if I had a back-up of every picture, I would have STILL had to re-write every Sims update on my blog if Photobucket had lost my photos.

*chanting* SIMS! SIMS! SIMS! SIMS! SIMS!
*flings a mushroom crepe at computer, drops to knees, tears streaming down face, looks towards the heavens and bellows* YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...So what did YOU do this evening?

Unknown said...

I backed up all of my pictures. I'm guessing you cleaned mushroom off your screen.

I think the important thing here is to realize mwb admitted to making a movie. I, for one, will not feel like a real person until I see it.

Madeline Hammersmark said...

Couldn't you just reinsert the links if you had backed up the pictures and uploaded them elsewhere?

Unknown said...

Yes, but would you WANT to re-upload 400 pictures and then re-insert 400 links?

If you're not going the html route on Blogger, you have to argue with it to put the picture where you told it to put the picture. It's MADDENING. So you're either going to fight with a wall of text, or end up re-writing your entire blog anyway, because you can't re-insert photos in the middle of blogs in Blogger without MAJOR stress. I've almost woken my kids up screaming at my computer.

Also, you would not believe the amount of people who lost business because they had 1000 listings on Ebay with no photos for three days. They couldn't re-list, because it would cost them even more money. They were PISSED!

Madeline Hammersmark said...

Damn. I didn't realize that inserting pictures in blogger was that much of a hullabaloo.

Now I really, really sympathize with you. Glad it all got worked out.

Try it in your own blog a few times (not using the html route) and see how infuriating it is.

Madeline Hammersmark said...

I barely have enough energy to post just text in my own blog, and I don't have two kids. I don't know how you do it.

Methamphetamines.

Darryl said...

Did someone say meth?

Unknown said...

Yes. Did you bring the weed?

I promise to mention you in my Oscar acceptance speech, Darryl.
